Sheung Shui is part of the Fanling-Sheung Shui New Town in the North District of Hong Kong. Shek Wu Hui used to be the marketplace of Sheung Shui, before the development of the new town. Today some private residences can be found towering over the old flats in the hui (market). The Shek Wu Hui Municipal Services Building hosts, among many other services, a "Cooked Food Centre"; a balancing solution was required for the chillers of the Center.
