”How do they work?”

Frese’s James Reid met Denmark’s Crown Princess Mary during her and Crown Prince Frederik’s official visit in Australia in November.

During the Crown Prince Frederik’s and Crown Princess Mary’s official visit in Australia Frese’s General Sales Manager – Asia Pacific, James Reid had the opportunity to chat with the Danish Crown Princess at Frese’s stand at Hotel Sofitel in Melbourne on November 23rd 2011. The encounter took place at the conference ”State of Green – Join The Future. Think Denmark” as part of the promotion of Danish environmentally friendly “Smart Cities” business sectors.

- It was a light hearted little chat we had. Matthew Swanson of Crane Distribution (Frese’s Australian distributor) and I were in discussion with a client we met only minutes before, when the Crown Princess and Crown Prince came by the exhibition, James Reid tells.

He adds that the client was also introduced to their Royal Highnesses and advised Princess Mary that they would be using the Frese valves in the near future.

- I confirmed with the Royal couple, that they had visited the Bovis Lend Lease’s new Commonwealth Bank Headquarters site the previous day at Sydney’s Darling Quarter. I then pointed out that the site also contained one thousand Frese OPTIMA valves. Mary pointed at the valves and asked ”how do they work?” I said it was rather technical to explain, but told her briefly that the valves were working in a building’s air conditioning system and that they ensured the use of less energy by combining three traditional air conditioning valve functions into one Frese valve. ”That was not so technical”, Crown Princess Mary replied. I then advised the Princess that it had never been easier to get an appointment, having their Royal Highnesses in attendance at the business delegation, says James.

The new Danish Trade Minister Pia Olsen Dyhr and the Danish Ambassador in Australia Susanne Shine were also participating in the delegation with the Royal Couple. James had a brief conversation with both of them too.

The next day James attended a lunch held for the Royal Couple by the Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard at the Great Hall at Parliament House in Canberra. Also attending were representatives from 50 Danish companies and many Australian politicians and business representatives.

- During the business delegation meetings, lunches and dinners, Frese was able to strengthen existing relationships but most importantly, I met many new contacts that Frese can benefit from in the future. We normally do not get access to such high profile people that easy, but having the Crown Prince and Crown Princess to open the doors for us, we now have some very interesting leads to work on, says James Reid.
