Aura Seaways and Luna Seaways will be Danish shipping company DFDS’ largest Ropax ferries in terms of freight capacity with their 4,500 lane meters each.
The 230 m long and 31,6 m wide ferries will accommodate 271 trailers and 73 cars as well as 600 passengers and will be servicing the routes from Karlshamn to Klaipeda and Kiel to Klaipeda, respectively. The launch of Aura Seaways and Luna Seaways is part of DFDS’ strategy to expand its route network in the Baltic Sea.
In collaboration with the main HVAC contractor, Novenco, Frese has delivered 45 OPTIMA Compact PICVs and 7 ALPHA valves ranging from DN15 to DN80 for above deck HVAC applications on each vessel.
These valves contribute to the overall 20% reduction of CO2 emissions per trailer compared to the existing Ropax ferries on the Baltic Sea routes.
After consultations with Novenco, the contractor recommended Frese dynamic valve technology to the owner, DFDS, due to our energy-saving capabilities and simplified valve systems.
- We have enjoyed a great and efficient working relationship with Frese on this project. It has been a close collaboration and a joint development process from start to finish, says Sonnich Midtgaard Christensen, Marine Engineer at DFDS.
